"Building has been part of my story for as long as I can remember. I grew up listening to my grandfather, Pops, tell stories about projects he built around the world, and I spent several summers working alongside him. I went on to earn a construction engineering degree from the University of Alabama and started my career in large multi-family and commercial construction.
In 2017, my wife Sara and I became foster parents to the two kids who are now our son and daughter. That season changed everything. It led me to step away from big corporate construction and start Canebrake the same month that Cora and Henry moved in. (side note: quit your job, start a business, and become a parent to a 1 & 2 year old in less than a month if you’d like to find out who you really are!)
From the beginning, I wanted to build a company rooted in relationship, real care for people and their homes, and a deep belief that work should never come before family… that means our own families AND the families we work with. Those principles still shape how we operate today.
When I’m not working, you’ll usually find me tackling a project at our own house, serving as an elder at our church, grilling something in the backyard, watching golf, or sneaking in a nap. We live on the east side of Birmingham in Roebuck Springs, and we’re grateful to serve this community.”
